As part of an ongoing visitor communications overhaul, New York’s largest hospital enlisted Sylvia Harris to coordinate research, develop communications guidelines, and supervise signage design for the new campus-wide wayfinding system. Co-chair of the steering committee, Ms. Harris spearheaded the creation of an exterior branding, addressing, and signage program. The team also developed interior sign standards for the maze of interior hallways. The resulting comprehensive design program was implemented on the 25-acre campus over a five-year period.

The program was driven by an integrated approach to wayfinding that utilized staff, site cues, signs, and instructions.

Cloud Gehshan designed a distinctive sign program in response to new patient-centered design policies.
