Universities share the challenge of accommodating different user groups while presenting a unified image that constitutes their institutional “brand.” To address this issue, the University of Miami at Coral Gables undertook a wayfinding study as part of a larger campus master plan. CitizenR&D conducted visitor surveys, analysis, and field evaluations of environmental branding solutions, signage, and information systems. The resulting wayfinding plan presents guidelines for creating an integrated and seamless experience for visitors, students, and staff.

Master plan includes a site analysis that identified problem areas for wayfinding.

Wayfinding model focuses not just on signs, but also on integrating all visitor communications.
